Since deciding on USANA, I then had to work out which vitamins that are recommended both by USANA and by doing my own research.
As an adult with USANA, you would usually start on the core vitamins and minerals - USANA’s triple-action cellular nutrition system: Core Minerals and Vita-Antioxidant. I tried for a while to take the pills but I have never had much luck with them. Interestingly, I chewed them a few times and for vitamins and minerals, they actually aren’t yuck so that’s a bonus! USANA also recommends the BioOmega for your omega fatty acids (remember, that’s one I’m super low in).
There are of course other options – after trial and error I am currently taking USANA’s child’s vitamin in a higher doses than a child would take, and their children’s omega 3.
I have done quite a lot of reading to make sure that I am getting enough of everything and have been following the guidelines I have found in that reading. One of the books I loved is called:
What Your Doctor Doesn’t Know About Nutritional Medicine May Be Killing You. It’s an easy read, peppered with real life examples and a guide about what this particular doctor suggests in the way of supplementation for people who are generally healthy and for those with particular conditions. As always, if you have a condition, you would need to talk to you doctor about these thing but ultimately, you are in charge of your own health and need to do your research and be happy with your decisions.
Abit about the vitamins I am taking in terms of taste
The child’s vitamin/mineral tastes like raspberries and the omega 3 is a liquid that tastes like orange. Unlike other liquid omegas I’ve taken, there is no weird, fishy aftertaste which is so fabulous. I’ve had some nasty experiences with liquid omegas before and this was honestly like a hallelujah moment for me!
I also have USANA’s Rev3 energy drink (another berry flavour which is nice and refreshing) before the gym each time I go and on days where I need a get up and go. Having been a bit of an energy drink fiend in the past, I was pleased to discover that Rev3 is a lot more natural and doesn’t contain nasties like some of the other energy drinks on the general market.
I also take the USANA probiotic every second day and will be looking into some optimisers depending on how my energy levels go over the next 6 or so weeks.
Let me know in the comments if you want any additional information about anything I am taking - I am totally happy to answer questions and find out more information if you want it. I've found all this research really interesting and encourage everyone to read, read, read!!!
